Barcelonaβs Premier Skate Spot!

Skatepark La Marina was inaugurated on 28 September 2019, transforming the former PlaΓ§a del Moviment Obrer into a vibrant hub for urban sports. The project sprung from a grassroots initiative: residents of the La Marina neighborhood, local associations (like La Marina Patina), and public authorities collaborated in participatory sessions starting in late 2017. Designed by Straddleβ―3, the park spans roughly 3,000β―mΒ².
Its layout is thoughtfully divided into three zones: a highβactivity area (~2,000β―mΒ²) for advanced skaters, sculpted bowls (spirals) converted into skate pools, and a dedicated beginner section free of obstacles. To make the space more welcoming, a pergola offers shade during daytime, while well-planned lighting ensures usability at night. Concrete planters double as benches, integrating greenery and seating in a seamless way.
The idea for the park came directly from the community: its development was part of the Pla de Barris (Neighborhood Plan), reflecting a push to revitalize underused public space in La Marina. With a budget of about β¬924,000, the park has not only become a favorite spot for skaters and BMX riders, but also brought new life and evening activity to a previously quiet square.
