Rails, Greens & City Scenes

Stads Skatepark, located within Antwerp’s historic Stadspark, first emerged in the early 2000s as part of a city initiative to bring more youth activity into the central park area. The original setup was modest incorporating a few metal ramps and wooden structures placed on a concrete slab, serving as a grassroots meeting point for the city’s growing skate scene.
Over time, the equipment aged, and by the late 2010s, the park had become worn and outdated. Recognizing the skate community’s involvement, the city of Antwerp, in consultation with local skaters and designers, planned a full renovation.
In 2023, construction began on a completely new, modern concrete skatepark designed for both street and transition skating. Skaters were invited to share feedback on obstacles, layout, and flow, ensuring the redesign reflected authentic rider needs rather than generic urban planning.
The renewed Stads Skatepark officially reopened in mid-2024, featuring smooth concrete surfaces, improved drainage, and integrated landscaping to harmonize with Stadspark’s historic greenery. Today, it stands as one of Antwerp’s most vibrant public skate spaces.
Boasting a blend of heritage, community effort, and contemporary skate culture.
